Mavs fill out 23-24 roster at Main Camp
HOCKEY OPERATIONS
As the summer heat began to subside and the fall season draws closer, the Mavs looked to secure the puzzle pieces needed to build out their roster for the upcoming 2023-24 USPHL season. Dozens of hopeful hockey players over half a dozen states convened upon OhioHealth Chiller North this past weekend for the Mavericks main camp, looking to secure a spot on this year's roster. Over the course of the three-day camp weekend, the players put their talents on display in a skills session and three subsequent games.
New Head Coach and General Manager, Joey Recktenwald was happy with both the turnout at camp and the talent level of the players in attendance. "The staff and I were thrilled with not only the attendance, but the level of play and competition. There were some pleasant surprises and some new faces that will have the opportunity to showcase their talents at the junior hockey level. From the coaches, scouts, staff, volunteers, and even fans that turned out, camp was a reminder that the Mavericks are deeply woven into the fabric of Columbus hockey. The outpouring of support from other local organizations fuels our fire to continue working as hard as we can to field a great team and give back to our community."
As the final roster spots fall into place, the Mavs look forward to the season, opening their training camp on Monday, August 28th. Following two weeks of practice and pre-season training, the Mavs will then open their season at home against the Nashville Spartans on Friday, September 8th. The puck drops at 7:30 PM at OhioHealth Chiller North and tickets are on sale now at www.columbusmavericks.com/tickets.
